Your medical records, on your device.
MedAI is a free, privacy-first health-data assistant. It connects to your doctor's patient portal, downloads your records straight to your phone, and helps you make sense of them — without sending a single byte to us.
Free No accounts No servers Open source
How it works
- You connect MedAI directly to your healthcare provider's patient portal — Epic MyChart, Oracle Health, athenahealth, and others — using SMART on FHIR, the federal standard for patient data access.
- Your records (visits, labs, medications, allergies, imaging reports) download straight from your provider to your phone.
- An on-device AI summarizes, explains, and answers questions about your data — locally, with no internet round-trip.
- You can de-identify and share specific records with a clinician, a family member, or a second opinion — on your terms.
Why it's free
Under federal rule ONC §170.315(g)(10), certified electronic health record systems are required to expose patient data to apps you authorize — at no cost to you or the developer. MedAI uses this right to build a tool that costs us almost nothing to run.
We have no servers that store your data. Your records live on your phone. That keeps our costs to roughly the price of a domain name per year, so we can offer MedAI without subscriptions, in-app purchases, or ads.
If you find it useful, a donation helps keep it that way. But the app is free regardless.
What we don't do
- We don't store your medical data on our servers (we don't have servers).
- We don't sell or share your data — nobody but you has access to it.
- We don't use analytics, tracking pixels, or crash reporters that identify you.
- We don't require accounts, sign-ups, or email addresses.
- We don't lock features behind paywalls.
Get the app
MedAI is currently in private beta. iOS and Android builds are not yet on the App Store. If you'd like to be notified when they are, get in touch.
Who builds it
MedAI is built by an individual developer in Washington State, under the project name PrivyApps. It is part of a small portfolio of privacy-respecting consumer apps. The code is open source on GitHub.
Important: MedAI provides AI-assisted information about your own medical records. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified clinician for health decisions.
